01 The log
We start with premium exotic and domestic logs, hand-selected around the world for figure and color. Each one is chosen for the grain hidden inside, then sliced thin so a single log can cover a hundred projects.
One good log holds more figure and color than most people ever see in a lumberyard. Our job is to open it up and show you what is inside.
02 The cut
A hand-picked log comes into the shop, still rough and full of promise.
We slice it into sheets about 1/40 of an inch thick, following the grain.
Each sheet is flattened and dried so it lays down clean for your build.
We sort by figure and color, pack it flat, and label it honestly.
03 The species
Tight, swirling burl eyes in warm olive-brown. A true showpiece, no two sheets alike.
Bold brown-and-black stripe, genuine striped ebony. The most dramatic look we stock.
A rolling, puddled quilt figure that shimmers as the light moves.
Near-black with fine straight lines. Modern, architectural, and hard to find.
Natural violet-purple that needs no stain. A genuine showstopper.
